Dr. Claudia Moricz was born and raised in Michigan and graduated with honors from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and received special honors including excellence in restorative care and election into the Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Moricz then attended one of the nation's top ranked orthodontic residency programs at the University of Michigan. Dr. Moricz earned a master's degree in the science of orthodontics while completing her thesis on ideal treatment timing for the orthodontic patient.
Dr. Moricz practiced orthodontics in Michigan for two years before moving to Florida in 2003. Dr. Moricz goes above and beyond what is required to practice orthodontics, choosing to become a certified diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and completing advanced training in many courses such as Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics, which is a process that enables orthodontic treatment to be completed in 3-4 times less than conventional orthodontics, meaning as little as 3-8 months in many cases; is a Preferred Provider of Invisalign due to the large amount of clinical experience she has had treating patients with Invisalign; is a certified provider of both Incognito and Harmony lingual braces; and is trained in the use of temporary anchorage devices (TADs), which can allow vast orthodontic improvements. She continues to stay ahead of the curve in advances that improve the patient experience and outcome and works with local organizations to educate student orthodontists and assistants.
Outside the Office
After living in Lakewood Ranch for many years, Dr. Moricz recently moved to Sarasota with her husband and their children. She loves almost any outdoor activity from the beach to snowboarding, and discovering new adventures, whether traveling or riding ridiculously scary amusement park rides. In her free time, you will probably find Dr. M at hot yoga or the gym - trying to work off her sweet tooth! She enjoys chatting with friends and patients at book club and volunteering at her sons' schools or community events.
If I wasn’t an orthodontist, I would be: I wanted to be an FBI profiler. I was a psychology major.
What energizes you: The beach and yoga
Who inspires you: I am inspired by my children, truly. They are kind and loving and wake up each day, ready for what it may bring. They are happy with the little things and are so resilient and able to handle the little bumps life throws their way. They inspire me to be a better person, to be more like them.
Most people don’t know this: Most people know everything about me! I am an open book!
