With an iTero Element Digital Scanner, Dr. Varone can take a precise digital impression of your teeth and gums using only a quick scan of your mouth. Not only is the older putty technique quite unpleasant, but it often requires multiple rounds of impressions that can all-too-easily be rejected, broken, or misplaced. In contrast, the iTero Scanner guarantees more accurate impressions from the beginning. This leads to improved, more precise treatment, and an overall more comfortable patient experience. Plus, digital impressions give us the ability to instantly view your scan in 3D, making the whole process from consultation to treatment quicker and easier than ever.
So... How Does it Work?
The iTero Scanner consists of a compact, hand-held wand which uses the latest optical technology to digitally capture the structure of the teeth and gums. Your orthodontist will pass the radiation-free laser scanner over your teeth as a detailed 3D computer generated model is created in real time. In as little as two to three minutes, you can watch the generation of your dental impression as the wand moves through your mouth.
The digital software can not only create a 3D model of your teeth, but these scans can be used to simulate your final results, giving you a visualization of what to look forward to as well as the opportunity to plan for further treatment as needed. The iTero Scanner can be used for any orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign.
